You Saved the Ta-tas, Now Grow a Mo

You've helped save the ta-tas ~ now.... Movember Indy, is in town to raise money and knowledge for the other sex and their important body parts. Male prostate and testicular cancer is a serious issue needing as much attention as breast cancer.

So how do you help save the boys?

Grow a moustache (or don a sporty faux 'stache) to raise awareness and start the conversation about men's, ahem... well, private parts that are needing more than just recreational attention.

“The moustache is our hairy ribbon of support for prostate and testicular cancer awareness,” said Bryan Kendall, the local chairman of Movember Indy. “Growing a Mo is more than just a way to raise money – it’s a conversation starter. At the end of the day, educating and building awareness is what matters most.”

The Mo Bros of Indianapolis will be raising money for men’s health and celebrating the halfway mark of their hirsute journey Sat., November. 16 at the inaugural Movember Indy Bar Crawl.

Beginning and ending at Tomlinson Tap Room, the bar crawl will also include stops at Mass Ave Pub, Bazbeaux, and other awesome pubs. With a glass of legendary brewed beer at each stop, participants will also receive Movember merchandise, a raffle ticket and a good time, all while saving the boys.

To register, donate $25 to Movember. Advance sign-ups will be entered to win a VIP experience, courtesy of Sun King Brewery and The Handlebar Indy.
Registered Hoosier participants, also known as Mo Bros, will start November 1 clean shaven and will groom, trim and wax their way in the annals of fine moustachery for 30 days. As they effectively transform into walking, talking billboards, the men will advocate private and public conversations around the often overlooked issue of men’s health.

Movember began in Melbourne, Australia, and has since grown into a worldwide campaign that calls attention to men's health issues. Since 2003, more than 1.1 million men have participated, raising $174 million. In the U.S., the beneficiaries are the Prostate Cancer Foundation and LIVESTRONG Foundation.

In 2012, more than 2,800 gallant Hoosiers sported hirsute facial masterpieces raising nearly $93,000 in Indianapolis and $145,000 across the state. After nearly doubling participation in 2011, Indianapolis was named the second largest participation increase in major cities nationwide by the national Movember Foundation.

Following the 30 days, all Mo Bros in the Indianapolis area will join together at the Movember Indy Gala Party, a formal extravaganza to flaunt their hairy achievement and celebrate a month-long, razor-free altruistic experience.

Registered Mo Bros are invited to showcase their facial craftsmanship at various local events. For more information on how to get involved with Movember Indy or for a list of events, please visit Movemberindy.com. Connect with Movember Indy on Facebook or Twitter.
