Symphony on the Prairie 2014 Lineup

Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra’s 33rd annual Symphony on the Prairie season includes Beach Boys, Blue and Beethoven. Beginning June 20 and running through August 31, ISO presents 26 concerts for the popular outdoor summer series. This year the orchestra performs the first five weekends and brings in their musical guests for the remainder of the shows.

Located at Conner Prairie, the outdoor music series is perfect for family, single or couples. Grassy areas are available for those wishing to bring a blanket or lawn chair. For those preferring it, tables for 10 are available at an additional cost. Food, alcohol and candles are allowed also.

The Swedish tribute band, Waterloo, returns to the Conner Prairie Amphitheatre for a concert of ABBA’s hits from the 1970s including “SOS,” “Dancing Queen” and “Mamma Mia,” among many others.

The Beach Boys – led by founding member Mike Love and Bruce Johnston – surf their way to the Conner Prairie Amphitheatre for chart-topping favorites from the group’s multi-decade career.

Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons

The former performing and recording members of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons take audiences on a walk down memory lane to the 60s, 70s and 80s with mega hits “Oh What a Night (Dec. ’63),” “Sherry,” “Bad Bad Leroy Brown,” “You’re so Vain,” “Mony Mony” and more.

Preservation Hall Jazz Band

The Preservation Hall Jazz Band brings the rich traditions of New Orleans-style jazz to the Conner Prairie Amphitheatre. Fireworks close the Symphony on the Prairie season on these two nights.

Single tickets for Marsh Symphony on the Prairie are $24/adults and $12/children in advance at the Hilbert Circle Theatre Box Office or online at IndianapolisSymphony.org or $28/adults and $14/children at the Conner Prairie Amphitheater gate.

There are three Premium Concerts; Star Spangled Symphony, Classical Mystery Tour: Music of the Beatles and The Beach Boys!, which have an advance ticket price of $30/adults and $12 children. The gate price for the Premium Concerts is $32/adults and $14/children.
Patrons can save an additional $1 per Adult ticket when purchasing with a Marsh Fresh Idea card at all Marsh Supermarket locations.

10-Ticket Value Packs, which offer 30 percent off gate admission, also are available for $190 at Marsh Supermarket locations, through the Hilbert Circle Theatre Box Office, online or by calling 317-639-4300.

Single tables, seating 10 people, are priced at $59 each and can be purchased through the Hilbert Circle Theatre Box Office only. Premium Concert tables are $79 each. Table reservation fees do not include concert tickets.

Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue

Guest conductor Ryan McAdams will open the 2012 summer season with classical favorites such as Elgar’s "Enigma Variations" and Gershwin’s "Rhapsody in Blue" featuring Stephen Beus, the winner of the 2006 American Pianists Association Max I Allen Fellowship.

Heroes & Victors – Music from Sports Greatest Films

Conducted by Alfred Savia, Heroes & Victors features the clips from classic sports films such as Chariots of Fire, Breaking Away and Hoosiers shown on large video walls near the stage as the ISO plays excerpts from the scores.

The Music of Queen

Conductor Brent Havens and his tribute band join the ISO to perform the many hits by legendary 1970s and '80s rock band Queen.

Star-Spangled Symphony

The ISO celebrates Independence Day with three concerts featuring many patriotic favorites including the 1812 Overture with live artillery accompaniment and Stars and Stripes Forever with a spectacular firework display.

Disco Night at the Prairie – A Tribute to the Bee Gees

Tribute band Stayin’ Alive joins the ISO in a Disco-style program highlighted by the many hits from The Bee Gees.

The ISO Goes Global – The Music of our Sister Cities

ISO Assistant Conductor David Glover takes patrons on a world tour of celebrated classical works representing Indianapolis’ sister cities in Germany, Italy, and China, among others. Guest violinist Stefan Jackiw also pays homage to Indy’s sister city of Cologne with Bruch’s glorious "Scottish Fantasy."

The Best of Broadway

Noted pops conductor Stuart Chafetz and a talented cast of New York City’s best vocalists put the hits of Broadway’s greatest musicals on center stage.

The Glenn Miller Orchestra with the ISO

The renowned Glenn Miller Orchestra and band leader Nick Hilscher return to join the ISO in performing the ensemble’s most recognizable works such as "Moonlight Serenade" and "In the Mood."

An Evening with Don McLean

Legendary folk singer and songwriter Don McLean joins the ISO’s string section in an evening of his enduring hits such as “American Pie” and “Vincent (Starry, Starry Night).”

Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons

The ISO’s string players will be this weekend’s star performers as they bring classical favorites – such as Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons to the stage, led by 2002 International Violin Competition of Indianapolis Gold Medalist Barnabás Kelemen.

Classical Mystery Tour – A Tribute to the Beatles

For a fifth consecutive summer season, the members of the Broadway cast of Beatlemania will perform many Beatles hits such as "Hard Day’s Night," "Twist and Shout," "Yellow Submarine" and "Here Comes The Sun"  in an authentic tribute to Liverpool’s “Fab Four.”

Diamond Rio

Four-time Country Music Award-winning band Diamond Rio will showcase its inventive country style and superb vocal artistry by performing many hits such as “Meet in the Middle,” “How Your Love Makes Me Feel,” and “Love a Little Stronger” in its Prairie debut.

The Contours – 50 Years of Motown!

The legendary Motown vocal quartet The Contours will perform many of its favorites such as “Do You Love Me,” “Can You Do It” and “Can You Jerk Like Me” in their first-ever appearance.

Big Bad Voodoo Daddy returns to bring its blend of jazz, swing, Dixieland and Big Band music.

From March 19 through May 4, patrons can purchase Value Packs (10 concert tickets) for $155, which is a savings of 40 percent off of single ticket prices. From May 5-June 16, Value Packs are $180. INDIANAPOLIS (Feb. 7, 2012) – Adults 18 and older who enjoy one-of-a-kind Indiana art and artisan food and wine are sought to volunteer for the second annual Indiana Artisan Marketplace March 31-April 1 at the Expo Hall at the Indiana State Fairgrounds.

In addition to enjoying the art and food, volunteers may help with such hospitality tasks as greeting guests, taking tickets, helping in the Artisan store or answering questions in the information booth. Artisan assistants will get a behind-the-scenes look at the show and a chance to meet the people who create the food and art.

Volunteer assignments may include helping artisans move in and out of the show, sitting at a booth when an artisan takes a break or roaming the show floor to lend a hand wherever one is needed. All volunteers receive a T-shirt and free admission to the show.

More than 125 artisans from Indiana and an additional 75 artisans from Kentucky will showcase art and food selected as being among the best in their state by food and art jury panels created by Indiana Artisan and Kentucky Crafted. Food and art jury panels select each artisan, which include painters, beekeepers, woodworkers, winemakers, jewelry designers, weavers, makers of specialty cheeses and more.

In addition to browsing the booths, visitors will enjoy Indiana music, live art and craft demonstrations, and food and drink tasting. Admission is $10, and children 7 and under are free.

Indy Jazz Fest 2011 Schedule Headliner is George Benson

INDIANAPOLIS (June 9, 2011) – The Indy Jazz Fest, presented by Marsh, announced Thursday, June 9, that multi-Grammy award-winning musician George Benson will be its 2011 festival headliner. The artist announcement party at the Indianapolis International Airport marked the beginning of the festival's 13^th year and a celebration of the festival's year-round dedication to strengthening the Indianapolis jazz and arts scene. 

The 2011 festival will be held over a six-day period in many locations, combining the great venues of Indianapolis with the diversity of jazz styles. Additional Saturday Main Stage performers include Spyro Gyra, Yellowjackets and Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue. Multiple Venues

This year's featured venues include the Madame Walker Theatre, Cabaret at The Columbia Club, The Jazz Kitchen and the Christel De Haan Fine Arts Center at the University of Indianapolis, all leading up to the outdoor grand finale on Saturday, September 17 held on the grounds of Opti-Park and the Indianapolis Art Center in Broad Ripple. Gates open at noon with music on three stages from 1 p.m to 11 p.m.
